How many pop caps would it take, stacked  atop each other to reach 4.7 miles? If you guessed one-million, you would be right. I remember reading of a Social Studies teacher in Iowa that had his students collect pop caps so they would get some idea of what a million-dollars, or a million anything, might be.

When we begin thinking in terms of large numbers: thousands, hundred-thousands, millions, billions and trillions, we have a little difficulty comprehending how much that really is. For example, can we imagine how long 10,000 years would be?  How about the word

"eternity?" That's a pretty long time, as we count time.

The Bible tells us that Jesus gives eternal to all who place their trust in Him. It was He who said: "The one who believes in me has eternal life." That's a long time; but it is not just the duration of life, it is the quality of life that God gives to those who know Him. The Bible says:

"This is eternal life that they may know Thee, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent."

If millions, billions and trillions sounds like a lot, think of an eternity without God. Better still, think of an eternity in the presence of God. Faith in Jesus Christ can make that to be a reality for all of us who come to Jesus for forgiveness, a new life right now, and an eternity

in Heaven.

A man wanted to buy 100 animals for a children's zoo. He had exactly one-hundred dollars to buy exactly 100 animals. He wanted at least 20 of each of three kinds. Baby rabbits cost $2 each; baby kittens cost $1 each; and baby chicks cost 10 cents each. How much of each kind must he buy to get 100 animals for one-hundred dollars?

Many people are puzzled about how to find forgiveness for sin and how they can be sure of heaven after they die. Of course that is a puzzle to those who feel they need to work there way to heaven by becoming good enough on their own to get to heaven. When would one ever know he or she was good enough?

The Bible gives us the answer to that puzzle It says, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." It says: "The wages of sin is death... " There is no glossing over the problem of sin. However, the Bible provides the answer we all need to hear, for it says: "If we confess our sin, God is faithful and just to forgive our sin, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." That is the answer the Bible gives to the problem of sin.

Oh yes, the answer to the other puzzle is: The man bought 27 rabbits at $2 each; 43 kittens at $1 each; and 30 chicks at 10 cents each.

Have a blessed day walking with Jesus Christ!                                 David Bender
